    Successful Productronica 2009:
Preh Ltd. orders SIPLACE placement machines

This year’s Productronica is turning out to be very successful for Siemens Electronics Assembly Systems GmbH & Co. KG as indicated not only by the great interest of many industry visitors in the new SIPLACE SX platform, but also by several concrete deals. For example, to the delight of the Portuguese SIPLACE team, the internationally operating Preh Group decided to invest in two SIPLACE machines of the latest type. Preh Ltd., which has its headquarters in Bad Neustadt, Germany, is a very successful developer and manufacturer of complex driver control systems, control devices and assembly systems for the automobile industry.

SIPLACE Team receives 2009 Global Technology Award
    for SIPLACE SX platform

The latest generation of SIPLACE placement solutions impressed not only the visitors, but also the trade journalists at this year’s Productronica, the industry’s leading trade show (Munich Trade Fair Centre, Nov. 10-13, 2009). The jury assembled for Global SMT & Packaging Magazine's coveted Global Technology Award selected SIPLACE and honored the new SIPLACE SX placement platform as the winner for 2009 in the category ‘Pick & Place high volume equipment’. The award is presented for the development of the world’s most important technical innovations by a panel of well-known, independent industry journalists. The SIPLACE SX with its rail-mounted interchangeable gantries and MultiStar CPP head is the world’s first platform that offers consistent capacity-on-demand capabilities, thus giving electronics manufacturers the flexibility they need to scale their production up or down.

    SIPLACE at the Productronica 2009:
With Capacity-on-Demand, SIPLACE SX leaves competitors

Build-to-Orderis the overarching theme for Siemens Electronics Assembly Systems GmbH & Co. KG (SEAS) at this year’s Productronica. At its booth (Hall A3, Booth 377), which was designed to resemble a stadium, SIPLACE will simulate typical electronics manufacturing challenges in the form of 'live' sports events. The company will make clear that its new SIPLACE SX with its comprehensive Capacity-on-Demand concept is the world's first placement platform that lets the user scale performance and capacity separately. The rail-mounted SX gantries, the unique SIPLACE MultiStar CPP head, flexible setup and line concepts as well as innovative SIPLACE rental services enable electronics manufacturers for the first time to let their production "breathe" in line with their order situation. This opens up totally new short-term and long-term business models for electronics producers.

Special SIPLACE in-house event during Productronica 2009 SIPLACE informs about Build-to-Order concepts for "breathing" electronics production

At an in-house technology convention to be held during the industry’s Productronica trade show, the SIPLACE team will provide information about its current BTO-centered product and development strategy and present new SIPLACE solutions for making electronics production more flexible. In workshops, presentations and technical demonstrations, visitors will learn how and with which tools modern BTO concepts can be implemented today and what positive impact this will have on a producer's competitive position. In best-practice presentations, representatives from various EMS and OEM companies will explain their innovative setup and line concepts and provide practical tips for implementing BTO concepts including the no-stop production of even the smallest lot sizes. The SIPLACE in-house technology convention is open for all trade show visitors of Productronica 2009.

Setup with SIPLACE SiCluster Professional: More efficient setups lead to higher productivity

With its SIPLACE SiCluster Professional optimization software, Siemens Electronics Assembly Systems GmbH & Co.KG (SEAS) expands its wide-ranging portfolio of intelligent setup strategies for electronics manufacturing. In addition to combining products into setup families (clusters), SIPLACE SiCluster Professional is the first program that determines any component overlaps in these family setups. It groups these shared components on "constant component tables", which remain on the machine during setup changeovers, thus saving a significant amount of time. Particularly in high-mix production environments with small to medium lot sizes, SIPLACE SiCluster Professional can reduce the time spent on setups by several hours while reducing the space and investment requirements for feeders and component carts by up to 33 percent.

SIPLACE SX at the Productronica 2009:
Completely new business models with Capacity on Demand

With its new SIPLACE SX, SIPLACE presents the world’s first placement platform that lets the user scale performance and capacity independently of each other. Rail-mounted, interchangeable SX gantries, the new SIPLACE MultiStar CPP head, flexible setup and line concepts as well as innovative SIPLACE rental services enable electronics manufacturers for the first time to let their production "breathe" in line with their specific order situation, which opens the door to entirely new short-term and long-term business models. The SIPLACE team will offer trade visitors more detailed information about its Capacity-on-Demand and Build-to-Order concepts, its various SIPLACE placement solutions as well as best-practice examples from well-known electronics manufacturers at a special in-house event being held at the company’s headquarters in Munich simultaneously with the Productronica show.

SIPLACE SX with "Capacity on Demand":
Innovative investment concepts for Build-to-Order in SMT production

Good news for the SMT industry from the 2009 Productronica trade show: With its new SIPLACE SX, Siemens Electronics Assembly Systems GmbH & Co.KG (SEAS) is presenting the world’s first placement machine designed for build-to-order processes from the ground up, because its new platform allows users to scale placement performance and feeder capacity independently and in line with requirements. Completely new, rail-mounted interchangeable gantries, which can be mounted and dismounted within minutes, are the technological basis for this innovation. That way, users can add SIPLACE SX gantries, shift them between lines, or even use SIPLACE’s "Rent-a-Gantry" service to adapt to seasonal demand fluctuations. In addition, the new SIPLACE SX+ model, a SIPLACE X with no gantries and heads, opens the door to entirely new investment concepts, particularly for electronics manufacturers who want to reduce their fixed assets.

  • New SIPLACE factory based on lean production principles:
Production time for SIPLACE placement machines cut by more than half 10/01/2009

New SIPLACE factory based on lean production principles:
Production time for SIPLACE placement machines cut by more than half

Siemens Electronics Assembly Systems GmbH & Co. KG has reached another milestone in its restructuring program by successfully starting up its new factory in Munich. By taking this step, the industry’s technology leader centralizes the production of its state-of-the-art SIPLACE placement machines immediately adjacent to its development departments. The new factory was designed in accordance with the latest lean production principles. Despite its increased output and significantly more flexible production capacity, the production area takes up less than 20 percent of the previous floor space. At the same time, the lead time from the start of the production to shipping a finished machine could be reduced by more than 60 percent to only ten days.
