SIPLACE SX with "Capacity on Demand": Build-to-Order in SMT production
Good news for the SMT industry from the 2009 Productronica trade show: With its new SIPLACE SX, Siemens Electronics Assembly Systems GmbH & Co.KG (SEAS) is presenting the world’s first placement machine designed for build-to-order processes from the ground up, because its new platform allows users to scale placement performance and feeder capacity independently and in line with requirements.
Completely new, rail-mounted interchangeable gantries, which can be mounted and dismounted within minutes, are the technological basis for this innovation. That way, users can add SIPLACE SX gantries, shift them between lines, or even use SIPLACE’s "Rent-a-Gantry" service to adapt to seasonal demand fluctuations. In addition, the new SIPLACE SX+ model, a SIPLACE X with no gantries and heads, opens the door to entirely new investment concepts, particularly for electronics manufacturers who want to reduce their fixed assets. Another innovation makes sure that the SIPLACE SX lines are optimally balanced: the SIPLACE MultiStar CPP head. The MultiStar is the world’s first CPP (Collect & Pick & Place) head that can switch between different placement modes. In combination with variable conveyor systems, intelligent feeders and powerful software, the new SIPLACE SX provides electronics manufacturers for the first time with consistent "Capacity on Demand" and with the ability to adapt to demand fluctuations and frequent setup changeovers with scalable, "breathing" production lines.
